World Class Golf Tournaments

The number of golf tournaments being played today throughout the world is growing each year and there are literally hundreds that fall into the "world class" level. The truth be known, the majority as great as they are, seem only of interest to the players, sponsors and others "directly" involved in that particular tournament for whatever reason. For that reason we will focus out attention on those tournaments that have endured the test of time and have become known as "major tournaments".

For the men, the 4 majors making up the modern gram slam of golf are The Open Championship (aka The British Open), The US Open, The Masters and the PGA Championship. Other major men's tournaments are The British Amateur, The US Amateur Golf Championship, The Senior US Open Golf Championship, The Ryder Cup Professional Team Golf Championship and The Walker Cup Amateur Team Golf Championship.
